Simon is CEO of Freshfield, a PR and marketing communications consultancy, which has its head office in Winckley Square, Preston. A Cardinal Newman College and UCLan graduate, Simon helped form the Winckley Square Community Interest Company which spearheaded a £1.2m regeneration of Winckley Square Gardens in 2016.

Why did you decide to become a PP board member?

Having helped create the Winckley Square Community Interest Company, I was able to see first-hand the impact of when the private sector works together with the public sector and the communities in which we operate. I think Preston has a brilliant opportunity to be a unique and thriving modern city. A small giant. It can be an attractive destination to do business, invest in, live, work and visit, and I simply want to help team Preston be the best it can be.

What is your Preston ambition?

To see the city create a new business district, our version of Spinningfields. Creating a new multi-use office district would have a huge ripple effect in terms of jobs, talent retention, investment, visitor economy, retail and leisure, social impact and the profile of the city.
